West Midlands Virtual Schools Active Now Programme

‘Active Now – New Experiences, New Skills, Active Futures’

Active Now is a regional initiative delivered by the Virtual School in each West Midlands local authority, working in partnership with local sports providers. The Dudley School Sport Partnership is the local provider delivering on this project for the Black Country.

🎯 The Aim

Active Now is designed to give young people access to high‑quality sporting activities, experiences, and opportunities across the West Midlands. From one‑off “try it out” sessions to longer 5–6 week programmes and special cluster events, the programme helps children discover new sports, develop skills, and enjoy being physically active.

Events are usually fully funded by the WMVS CIC Foundation, meaning children in care can take part free of charge.

🌟 What’s On Offer

Over recent years, Active Now has grown rapidly, with more young people taking part in an exciting variety of sports and activities, including:

  • Cricket
  • Trampolining
  • Indoor climbing
  • Mountain biking
  • Roller skating
  • Dance
  • Football
  • Boxing
  • Sailing
  • Outdoor adventure

🌍 The Vision

The programme is committed to offering a diverse and inclusive range of activities in every area of the West Midlands, running throughout the academic year. By opening doors to new experiences, Active Now helps young people build confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of being active.
